Unit: Labor & Delivery / Postpartum / Nursery
Shift: Night Shift | 3x12 Hours (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Local Radius: 50 miles
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Labor & Delivery team in Syracuse, NY. This role requires strong clinical expertise in maternal-child health and the ability to provide comprehensive care across Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Nursery units. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent clinical judgment, adaptability, and commitment to delivering safe, evidence-based patient care in an acute care environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver high-quality nursing care to patients throughout the labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care continuum.
\tFloat between Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Nursery units based on unit needs.
\tCirculate cesarean sections (required) and scrub cesarean sections (preferred).
\tPerform comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments in acute care settings.
\tManage high-risk obstetric patients and respond effectively to obstetric emergencies.
\tAdminister medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and institutional protocols.
\tUtilize Epic EMR for accurate documentation and care coordination (preferred).
\tProvide patient and family education regarding labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and newborn care.
\tCollaborate closely with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, and multidisciplinary teams.
\tDeliver safe, efficient nursing care with minimal orientation and supervision.
\tActive New York State RN license.
\tBLS (AHA) certification (current or eligible for recertification).
\tMinimum of 1.5 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience (within the last 2 years) in an acute care facility of comparable size and complexity.
\tExperience circulating cesarean sections (required); scrubbing cesarean sections (preferred).
\tStrong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
\tExcellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities.
\tEpic EMR experience.
\tExperience in large hospitals or trauma centers (required for travelers).
