Job Description

Responsibilities

Brasfield & Gorrie is currently accepting applications for a Tower Crane Operator. Below are the main responsibilities for this position.

(This description may not include all duties required of this position)

  • Operate tower and cable equipment to lift and move materials, machines, or products in many directions on a commercial construction project
  • Interpret and follow all hand, radio, or voice signals
  • Operate tower crane to perform hoisting operations as required
  • Complete daily and weekly inspection and maintenance reports
  • Perform daily pre-operational checks and basic maintenance on equipment
  • Know and use instrument and control panels for the crane
  • Work in all types of weather conditions
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and company policies
  • Maintain a drug-free work environment
  • Take part in lift planning and attend required safety meetings
Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience
  • 5 years’ commercial construction tower crane operator experience preferred
  • Must have a current and valid NCCCO certification for the type of crane being operated
  • Certification card and proof of medical fitness for duty (either physical or DOT medical card) must be kept on file
  • Must pass both written and practical tests for the specific crane type
  • Must be medically fit for duty (verified by a physical exam or DOT medical card)
  • Familiar with tools and processes commonly used on a construction site
  • Knowledge of regulations, safety requirements, and company/site policies applicable to crane operators
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow load charts
  • Can clearly follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Must fluently speak and write English
  • Familiar with construction safety practices and PPE requirements
  • Able to physically perform duties (climb ladders, get in/out of cab, lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights)
