Job Summary The Koger Center for the Arts is accepting applications for a Stage Manager. This position is responsible for the successful production of all events held at the venue. Following tech rider specs, ensures that all staging requirements are met including staffing, training, and supervision of a part-time production crew. Also responsible for the general maintenance of the staging area, including but not limited to flooring, lighting, dashers, etc. Work hours: In addition to the normal 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. business hours, the employee will be expected to work varying hours to include nights and weekends, as dictated by the Koger Center event schedule. Responsibilities Recruit, train, and supervise a part‑time production crew of approximately 100‑150. Provide a positive, productive, and professional work atmosphere; ensure crew safety and OSHA compliance. Schedule crew members per show requirements. Maintain all stage equipment and the surrounding storage areas. Understand equipment functions to troubleshoot, stay up to date with technical developments, and recommend repairs or upgrades when needed. Work with the Technical Director to advance the technical and personnel needs of productions. Provide accurate cost estimates to potential building users; at show load‑in provide a tour of the facility; and prepare labor and equipment charges in a timely manner. Develop lighting cues, execute standard theatrical elements, and act as the building liaison between the production crew and Front of House to ensure a smooth production run. Purchase supplies and equipment as needed for the stage department. As a purchasing cardholder, retain receipts, pair with monthly statements, and approve expense reports while keeping maintenance and technical expenses within budget. Qualifications Education and Experience : Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 2 years of related experience, or equivalent certification/experience. Preferred : Associate or Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years experience in an entertainment venue setting, including staging, lighting, and sound production. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities : Working knowledge of industry standard staging techniques; experience in lighting design and sound production. Must be able to multi‑task and work extended hours.
