Summary of duties:
Performs general police duties, processes, and operations for the protection of life and property and enforces federal, state, and local laws, prevents crime, and preserves peace in a railroad surface transportation environment.
Compensation and benefits:
Annual: 1 full year of prior service at probationary rate or over 1 year break in service - $92,928, 5 Year Lateral (First Year at 95%) with less than 1 year of break in service from previous Department - $109,563.50, Top Step (100%) - $144,514. Amtrak offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes health, dental, and vision plans; wellness programs; flexible spending accounts; 401(k) retirement plan; life insurance; paid time off; reimbursement of education; Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibility; Railroad Retirement sickness and retirement benefits; and rail pass privileges.
