Description

This position reports to the Pastoral Associate while working in conjunction with the Pastor and Coordinator of Music. The primary responsibilities include the smooth flow of the Sunday Liturgies including music. Additional hours may be required during the seasons such as Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, Sacramental Masses and Holy Days. Weekly preparation hours are flexible, and it is required that the Coordinator of Liturgy or a designated delegate be present during all weekend Liturgies to assure the liturgy is held in the highest regard directing as needed, the congregation, the ministry volunteers, and the music.

Major Responsibilities in Liturgy:


• Coordinates and schedules all Parish Liturgical celebrations in Consultation with the Pastor

• Prepare and schedule monthly Liturgy Board Committee Meetings

• Direct reports may include Coordinator of Music to assure a cohesive environment for the liturgy celebrations

• Collaborates with the Parish Faith Formation staff regarding sacramental preparation and liturgies


• Ensure that all Liturgical Ministries are up-to-date and meeting the requirements set forth by the Diocesan Call to Protect Office.

Additional Responsibilities apply:


• Supervise the training and recruitment of Altar Servers, Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist, Ushers, Ministers of Hospitality, Lectors and Sacristans

• Supervise scheduling of Liturgical Ministries using MSP software

• Meet and coordinate with the Arts & Environment Committee

• Supervise the ordering of necessary Liturgical supplies

• Prepare Funeral and Wedding Liturgies in consultation with the families and Pastor


• Create and maintain Liturgy budget

• Coordinate with Parish Secretary preparing Bulletin and Pulpit Announcements

• Create or supervise bulletin articles regarding Liturgical Training

• Communicate weekly and disperse Readings to Lectors

• Prepare Prayers of the Faithful

• Mass Intention announcing for weekend liturgies

• Confirm EM's, Altar Servers, Ushers, Greeters per Mass

Liturgical Training Responsibilities:


• Supervise and assist the Liturgy Board Committee with training programs

• Catechize the volunteers through training for their desired ministry


• Catechize and assist in the preparing for their ministry journey

• Plan and supervise Spiritual Retreats for the children and adults

• Some office duties may apply.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required


Knowledge of Catholic doctrine and beliefs as presented in the documents of Vatican Council II, the Catechism of the Catholic Church and other relevant Church and Catechetical Documents.


Ability to assess needs and use results to develop catechetical processes.


Leadership and teambuilding abilities to direct religious education and Ministry preparation programs.


Possess excellent planning, organizational and collaborative skills.


Practicing Catholic with in-depth knowledge and training in Theology and Liturgy in the Roman Catholic tradition.


Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.


Computer literacy, excellent written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills.


Working knowledge of management, supervision, and administration; knows needs and resources of parish community; must have updated knowledge of educational and catechetical trends and practices.


Ability to work under pressure; must initiate, be creative, and anticipate solutions to problems needs good judgment in emergency situations and when working with varied personalities and cultures; must be able to work under frequent interruptions.


Ability to interact with individuals and groups and maintain appointments and meetings on parish grounds.

Minimum Qualifications


Degree in theology, or equivalent, pastoral studies, religious education, or a related field.


Five years of formation experience in a parish or diocesan position. Related degrees and comparable experience will be considered.
