A Day in the Life of the Structural & Civil Engineer - PE
In this role, you’ll take the lead on designing, analyzing, and managing a wide range of civil and structural projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. You’ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring every project is safe, efficient, and aligned with regulatory requirements. Your contributions will directly support the client’s mission to deliver high-quality engineering services to public and private partners across the region.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating structural and civil designs using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Performing engineering calculations to ensure stability and code compliance
  • Evaluating materials and construction methods for suitability and efficiency
  • Leading projects from concept through completion, managing timelines and budgets
  • Coordinating with clients, architects, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Conducting site inspections to verify compliance with design documents and safety standards
  • Ensuring adherence to local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines
  • Troubleshooting issues that arise during construction
  • Preparing technical reports, calculations, proposals, and project documentation

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in Oregon or an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with certification
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and safety standards
  • Proven experience managing projects from start to finish, including reviewing shop drawings, submittals, and ensuring completion meets standards
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
