This experience allows learners to practice medical interviewing, counseling skills, physical exams, and interpersonal communication. SPs represent many facets of our population, providing a diverse learning environment for medical students. Job Description SPs will learn and memorize 1–4 different patient scenarios and review all provided materials, including physical exam checklists, provocative tests, videos, and counseling or interview checklists. They must portray each case consistently for every student, ensuring a standard experience for post‑encounter assignments. SPs evaluate and provide specific constructive written and oral feedback on students’ clinical performance, focusing on physical exam technique and communication skills. The role includes performing physical exams as a body model and observing students’ examination and communication techniques. Responsibilities • Memorize scripted patient scenarios and associated checklists.

  • Review all educational materials related to each case.
  • Consistently portray each case scenario across all student interactions.
  • Provide written and verbal feedback on students’ physical exam and communication skills.
  • Perform physical exams (vital signs, neurological, HEENT, cardiopulmonary, abdominal, musculoskeletal, spinal) as a body model.
  • Observe and document students’ draping techniques, verbal, and non‑verbal communication.
  • Adhere to a part‑time schedule of 12:30 – 4:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience Experience in acting/performing arts, education, or health care is preferred but not required. Job Competencies Basic computer typing and data entry skills. Ability to memorize scripted information. Excellent ability to recall learner experiences. Exceptional communication skills. Ability to follow directions and accept constructive criticism. Highly reliable with flexible scheduling. Reliable access to email for communication and scheduling. Willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
