We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia. In this role, you will oversee accounting functions for a portfolio of properties, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. You will also provide leadership to property-level accounting staff and collaborate with various teams to support company-wide accounting initiatives.

Responsibilities:
• Manage the general ledger for an assigned portfolio of properties, ensuring timely and accurate monthly closings.
• Review and oversee team members’ work on property-specific tasks, including roll forwards, rent schedules, accruals, and other closing activities.
• Prepare and maintain detailed supporting documentation, account analyses, and monthly closing checklists for assigned properties.
• Conduct variance analyses, prepare monthly accruals, and assist with annual budgets and operating expense reimbursements.
• Collaborate with asset managers, property managers, external auditors, and tax preparers to ensure seamless financial operations.
• Support compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and contribute to the company’s overall compliance program.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to property-level accounting staff to enhance team performance.
• Participate in reviewing property-level workpapers and contribute to portfolio-wide accounting projects.
• Perform other related accounting duties as assigned to support the team and organizational goals.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Minimum of four years of accounting experience, ideally in public accounting, real estate, or a combination of both.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP standards, particularly those related to real estate, including lease and property accounting.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements, such as Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with general ledger software such as Yardi is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, combined with a collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
