Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse (RN) High Acuity

Location: Chicago, IL
Unit: 30-Bed SICU / MICU / Neuro ICU

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced High Acuity ICU Registered Nurse to provide critical care to complex patient populations in a Surgical, Medical, and Neuro ICU setting. The ICU RN will manage critically ill patients requiring advanced life-support interventions, continuous monitoring, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill ICU patients with high acuity needs

• Manage patients post Open Heart surgery (CABG) and other complex surgical procedures

• Care for Neuro and Stroke patients , including administration and monitoring of TNK

• Initiate, monitor, and troubleshoot CRRT therapies

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuous hemodynamic monitoring

• Utilize EPIC EMR for accurate documentation and care coordination

• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams

• Respond to emergency situations and participate in rapid response/code events

• Float to other critical care areas when ICU census is low

Requirements

• Active RN license (compact or Illinois license preferred)

• Minimum 2+ years recent high-acuity ICU experience

• Experience in SICU, MICU, and Neuro ICU environments

• Strong experience with CRRT, CABG, Stroke/TNK patients

• EPIC experience required

• Certifications required:

  • BLS

  • ACLS

  • NIHSS

Schedule & Contract Expectations

• 12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM

• Work every other weekend and every other holiday

• No RTO for holidays

• Floating is expected if ICU census is low

• Calling in sick on a weekend shift (Friday 7:00 PM Monday 7:00 AM) requires making up the shift the following weekend
