About the Opportunity Our client, a rapidly growing advanced engineering company, is searching for a Nuclear Shielding Engineer . This role will join a multidisciplinary analysis team supporting the design and deployment of advanced energy technologies. Location & Compensation Location: Hybrid position based in Seattle, WA, requiring on-site presence three times per week. Compensation: $110,000 – $140,000 per year, depending on experience. Responsibilities Perform radiation‑shielding design analyses for power systems and radiological facilities, including dose, energy deposition, and material degradation calculations. Design and execute sensitivity studies to evaluate modeling assumptions (geometry complexity, meshing, variance‑reduction techniques, transport options). Ensure final shielding designs meet all radiation and safety requirements. Develop and maintain clear documentation of requirements, analyses, and results for traceability and technical rigor. Review models, calculations, and reports for accuracy and compliance with technical standards. Support requirements development and strategic planning for new program initiatives. Key Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering or related discipline. 2+ years of industry or research experience (Master’s or Ph.D may substitute for some experience). Proven experience with radiation shielding design and analysis. Familiarity with radiation effects on electronic components. Strong computational skills and proficiency with Monte Carlo transport codes (e.g., MCNP, OpenMC, GEANT). Working knowledge of numerical methods such as activation analysis, dose‑rate modeling, and variance‑reduction techniques. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Linux and high‑performance computing (HPC). Familiarity with Attila4MC and CAD tools such as SolidWorks, SpaceClaim/ANSYS, or Cubit. Experience working under a formal quality program (e.g., NQA‑1 or similar).
