Job Description About the Role: The Medical Receptionist 1 serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors within a healthcare setting, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment. This role is critical in managing patient flow by efficiently scheduling appointments, verifying patient information, and handling inquiries both in person and via telephone. The Medical Receptionist 1 is responsible for maintaining accurate patient records and coordinating communication between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff. By managing front desk operations with attention to detail and empathy, this position supports the overall efficiency and quality of patient care services. Ultimately, the Medical Receptionist 1 contributes to a positive patient experience and smooth clinical operations through effective administrative support and interpersonal communication. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare environment preferred but not required. Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn electronic health record (EHR) systems. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare staff. Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism. Preferred Qualifications: Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant. Experience using specific EHR software such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech. Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare billing procedures. Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the United States. Training in customer service or patient relations within a healthcare context. Responsibilities: Greet and check in patients upon arrival, verifying personal and insurance information accurately. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems. Answer incoming calls promptly, addressing patient inquiries, directing calls to appropriate staff, and providing general information about services. Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA. Collect co-payments and process billing information as required, coordinating with the billing department when necessary. Coordinate communication between patients, medical staff, and other departments to facilitate smooth clinical workflows. Manage waiting room logistics to minimize patient wait times and maintain a calm, organized environment. Perform general administrative duties including filing, faxing, and managing office supplies.
