Minimum Qualifications:

Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Position Summary:

The Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for coding and submitting medical claims for insurance billing. Under general supervision, this position assists with administrative functions such as drafting correspondence, organizing and maintaining electronic files, and providing information Speech and Hearing clinic staff. The incumbent will report to the Speech and Hearing clinic Office Manager. This position is fully remote.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:
  • Knowledge of various administrative systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and UGA Financials (People Soft).
  • Knowledge of and experience using electronic medical record systems, preferably for Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology services.
  • Knowledge of medical billing and coding procedures
  • Knowledge of credentialing with insurance companies
