\n -# Beds: 20 beds, all private, all monitored with Nurse\n-Patient Ratios Ratios - 1:1, 1:2, 2:1 depending on patient acuity\n-Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?)\tBLS, ACLS preferred, CCRN a plus\n-Common diagnoses/Types of patients\t"Patient Population – post open heart surgical patients-CABG, Valves, CABG/Valve, Dissections, AAA, Vascular procedures, Carotids, post cardiovascular procedures, STEMI, Unstable angina, Unstable N-STEMI, Cardiogenic Shock, Cardiomyopathy, Targeted Temperature Management (Hypothermia), Transcutaneous pacing, Transvenous pacing, Severe heart failure, TAVRs, cardiac related events requiring ICU care, ventilated patients, overflow patients from other ICUs including COVID patients Soon to come – Post VAD placement, Post heart transplant patient\n-Specialty Intervention Equipment – IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz, ECMO, External Pacemakers, CRRT\nLines – PICC, Midlines, CVC, Swans, Arterial Lines (radial and femoral) \n-Experience or 'Must have' skills: I would expect the traveler coming in has at least 2 solid years of CVICU experience (prefer more) with continuing to travel having ICU assignments and can take care of these patients without issue right off the bat. We cannot train for our equipment and patient population. They must be able to pick up right away. Must be able to work at a fast paced. Must be able to interpret strips. Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, communication, organization, teamwork, compassion, ability to follow protocols and orders as written, motivation, ability to work in a fast paced, high stress environment, compassion, time management, positive attitude and behavior. \nAre RNs required to titrate drips?\tYes\n-Common titratable &/or set rate drips\tWe titrate multiple different drips-dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epi, neo, vasopressin, cleviprex, propofol, fentanyl, versed, insulin, heparin, esmolol to name a few. Some drips are set rate, go by protocol or titrate by order written. \n-Is there a Charge Nurse &/or House Supervisor on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?\tThere are charge nurses 24/7, they do take teams at times. We also have a house supervisor 24/7. \n-Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?\tWe have PCTs, ratios can run anywhere from 1:12-1:15, sometimes more depending on staffing available\n-Hospitalist &/or Intensivist in house 24/7? In the ICU 24/7?\tWe have CV APNs/PAs and CCS APNs/PA majority of times, but do have providers on call. \n-RT in ICU 24/7? We do have respiratory therapists 24/7. \n-RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, Bipap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?\tYes we have ventilators, utilize CPAP, BPAP, heated high flow. We also utilize nitric oxide. \nAre there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?\tAll patients are connected to Philips monitoring. RNs are expected to read and interpret strips. We do have monitor techs. \nShifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?)\tShifts are 12hrs (7a-7p or 7p-7a). It is not self scheduling for non AHU Mission Partners, no blocking. \n-Weekend Requirements\tEvery other weekend. Dayshift weekends are Saturday, Sunday. Nightshift weekends are Friday, Saturday. \n-Holiday Requirements\tYes, every other\n-Floating Requirements\tFloat to every level of care. Travelers are expected to take a full team\n-Scrub Color/Dress Code\tNo particular color scrubs, however must be appropriate in appearance-not too tight, not falling off, clean. We do not provide scrubs. \n-Additional Notes\tOur unit needs someone who is proficient in all cardiovascular ICU components with the exception of immediate post op (would be a bonus if they did), VAD and transplant. We utilize swans, CVC, and art lines daily on majority of our patients. We utilize temporary pacemakers on a lot of our patients. We get multiple EP patients. We have IABPs. We titrate multiple drips frequently. We have a lot of ventilated patients. All of these items could be on one patient and sometimes two of these in one assignment.Medical Solutions Job ID #1045488L.
