Job Title: Lab Manager
Job Description
As a Lab Manager, you will be responsible for specifying the requirements of new lab facilities and working closely with contractors and vendors. You will oversee existing labs, coordinate preventive maintenance on tools and instruments, and support labs for variety of products.
Responsibilities
Provide project management leadership for lab operations projects, including gathering requirements, creating schedules, and developing plans.
Integrate the activities of cross-functional team members and implement product requirements into project scope, design, and realization.
Lead key project execution in collaboration with stakeholders such as engineering, EHS, and facilities.
Plan and execute multiple large, complex projects to meet or exceed schedule, cost, scope, and quality commitments.
Define and drive risk and mitigation plans for projects and lead contingency option assessments when necessary.
Facilitate collaboration between departments to identify and leverage new project concepts, technologies, techniques, standards, and procedures.
Actively participate in identifying and implementing continuous process improvements within the Generac Engineering organization.
Identify, evaluate, and document lessons learned during projects and communicate best practices to project team members.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
7 years of progressive work experience in engineering, project engineering, or brand/product management of equipment, machinery, or other powered products.
5 years of project management experience in product development of industrial/commercial equipment, machinery, or other powered products.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Demonstrated project management experience with facilities, operations, and maintenance.
2 years of experience in a technical R&D role in a similar industry.
Experience with project management software tools such as JIRA or Smartsheet.
Ability to work with contractors and specify needs from a project management and facility standpoint.
Understanding of engineering labs, ideally within medium voltage, data acquisition, or products similar to internal combustion engines.
Work Environment
The primary work location is the lab in Waukesha, with potential travel to labs in Whitewater, Jefferson, and Oshkosh. There may also be occasional travel to Canada.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
