We are looking for a Consumer Loan Underwriter to join our Loan Services team and support PSCUs mission by delivering timely, accurate, and member-focused lending decisions. The Ideal Candidate Analytical Thinker: Evaluates financial data, credit reports, and loan documentation with precision and sound judgment. Collaborative: Works closely with team members and departments to ensure smooth lending operations. The Main Duties Receive and analyze consumer and HELOC loan requests, reviewing applicants creditworthiness, income, and collateral. Make lending decisions within assigned authority; escalate complex requests with recommendations. Ensure loans comply with Credit Union policies, procedures, and State and Federal regulations. Complete post-closing activities, including documentation, credit bureau reporting, insurance, and titling. Communicate loan decisions promptly and courteously, offering alternative options when appropriate. Identify cross-sell opportunities and promote additional Credit Union products and services. Maintain accurate loan records in PSCUs CRM and lending systems. Recommend updates to lending policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance. Provide backup support to other lending or collections functions as needed. The Must-Have List High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of three (3) years of consumer lending experience required. Underwriting experience strongly preferred. Must hold or be able to obtain a Notary designation. Must hold or be able to obtain a Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) number. The Wish List Experience in underwriting HELOC or secured consumer loans. Prior credit union experience or familiarity with credit union philosophy. Proficiency in loan origination software and CRM systems.
