Job Title : Coffee Shop Barista

Business Unit : Meteor Crater Enterprises

Location : Crater Museum

Department : Meteor Crater Mining Co.

Function : Prepare coffee drinks & sell food

Reports to : Food & Beverage Manager, Supervisor, Assistant Operations Manager, Operations Manager, & VP of Business Development

Direct Reports : None

Financial Accountability : Safety compliance to prevent costs related to visitor and employee accidents. Minimize waste by following proportion guidelines and expiration date awareness. Up selling product.

Purpose : Under the supervision of the Food & Beverage Manager, Barista's are responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive guest experience at the Meteor Crater Mining Company. This role includes operating the cash register, accurately handling all transactions, and assisting with all aspects of food and drink preparation. Responsibilities also include preparing menu items, serving customers, and performing light maintenance duties in accordance with opening and closing procedures. Baristas are committed to maintaining a welcoming environment and providing a professional, positive, and memorable experience for all visitors.

Tasks and Responsibilities :

  1. Provide excellent customer service by greeting guests, taking orders, and skillfully preparing a variety of drink and food items to meet quality standards.
  2. Support drink and food preparation by utilizing food prep equipment and ensuring all items are made to standard.
  3. Consistently adhere to exact ingredient portions and recipes for all menu items to ensure quality and consistency.
  4. Required to follow all County Health Department rules and regulations.
  5. Responsible for all cash and credit card transactions.
  6. Ensure the MCMC and work areas are kept clean, well-organized, and visually appealing to enhance the customer dining experience.
  7. Responsible for restock and organizing back stock, freezers and walk-in cooler.
  8. Be familiar with opening and closing procedures and provide support as needed or when scheduled.
  9. Accurately count and reconcile opening and closing cash balances with daily sales totals.
  10. Provide coverage for colleagues during lunches and breaks as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  11. Maintains professionalism by refraining from consuming any food during preparation or outdated food items.
  12. Responsible for helping train and coach the MCMC personnel with sales techniques and develop team work when instructed to.
  13. Support co-workers and Managers in accordance with policy and procedure related to the operations of the coffee shop.
  14. Responsible for interacting directly with guests, including promptly and appropriately handling guest inquiries and concerns.
  15. Communicates inventory of levels and operational needs to management.
  16. Required to self motivate to accomplish daily functions without prompting.
  17. Attends staff meetings to ensure communication among Managers and co-workers regarding operations and activities.
  18. Performs other duties as required.
  19. Must wear complete uniforms including (name tag, earpiece).
  20. Must follow all policies and procedures in accordance with the Employee Handbook.

Work Environment : Work is generally performed in a public setting with a moderate to high noise levels. Prolonged standing and walking may be required. Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements :

  • Essential
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, as well as a background check.
  • Possess a current, valid Arizona Driver’s License.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Work is generally performed in a public setting with a moderate noise level as well as a retail setting with higher noise levels.
  • Prolonged standing and walking may be required.
  • Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common.
  • Working weekends, nights and holidays are a possibility due to the needs of the facility.

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, Certifications :

  1. Knowledge of the operational aspect of food service and coffee shop.
  2. Knowledge of, and practices all Policies and Procedures.
  3. Skill in providing excellent customer service; using good judgment, being friendly.
  4. Skill in operating business sales registers and computers.
  5. Cash handling and settlements.
  6. Obtain a Coconino County Food Handlers permit and Arizona Title 4 Alcohol Server Certification.
  7. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing.
  8. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships and communication with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  9. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  10. Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment.
  11. Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action.

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee occasionally is required to sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
