Position Summary

We are seeking a Clinical Assistant to join out Outpatient Psychiatry department team. Opportunity to learn about pharmacy and behavioral health.

Key Responsibilities

• Collecting, verifying and recording required information according to established procedures and instructions.
• Assisting Registered Nurse with completing medication prior authorizations.
• Assisting Registered Nurse with maintaining prescription medication refill line/message pool.
• Communicating with pharmacies over the phone for any prescription medication follow-up as needed.
• Drafting letters as requested by the patient/family (e.g. for pharmacies, school based nursing, pediatricians, medical specialists) for the Registered Nurse's review.
• Collecting and organizing medical records, information, materials and supplies required for admissions or encounters. Preparing requisitions and other standard forms as requested by clinician or supervisor.
• Recording and forwarding messages and triaging calls for urgent information or services. Responding to requests for routine information or assistance within scope of knowledge and authority. Initiating call for emergency services as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: A HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience:
  • 1 year related experience.
  • Pharmacy technician or related pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience or interest in behavioral health preferred.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work on a team.
  • The ability to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8-4:30pm
  • Medical terminology experience helpful.
  • The ability to exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain hospital policies and relay messages to appropriate personnel. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees.
