Job Description

We are seeking a Certified Professional Medical Coder (CPC) PRN to join our team. This role offers flexible, as-needed scheduling. Ideal for individuals seeking supplemental hours with no guarantee of a set schedule. This is a PRN position. Hours are not regularly scheduled and will be offered on an as-needed basis to provide coverage for staff absences, increased workload, or special projects.The CPC will be responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and assigning accurate medical codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services in accordance with ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, supports accurate billing, and maximizes appropriate reimbursement for the organization.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential required
• Minimum of (13) years of coding experience in a medical office, hospital, or specialty setting.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing guidelines.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently.
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and coding software systems.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and provider documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Assign correct ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services performed.
• Ensure coding compliance with federal regulations, payer guidelines, and organizational policies.
• Collaborate with providers and staff to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding changes, payer requirements, and industry standards.
• Support revenue cycle functions by reducing coding errors and claim denials.
• Protect patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
