Job Title: Boiler Operator

Shift: Day/Night/Rotating Shifts as applicable

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Boiler Operator to join our team at our Vicksburg sawmill facility. The Boiler Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of steam boilers and related systems that support the mill's production processes. This role is critical in maintaining optimal temperature, pressure, and steam output to ensure smooth operation of sawmill equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate, monitor, and maintain high-pressure steam boilers, feedwater systems, and associated equipment.
• Perform routine inspections and monitor gauges, meters, and control panels to ensure systems are functioning properly.
• Conduct water quality tests and treat boiler feedwater to prevent scaling and corrosion.
• Maintain accurate logs of boiler operations, maintenance, and safety checks.
• Respond quickly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and equipment malfunctions.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to troubleshoot and repair mechanical or instrumentation issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks and assist in annual inspections and overhauls.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and local/state boiler codes.
• Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
• Assist in other mill utility operations as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training in boiler operations or mechanical systems preferred.
• 2+ years of experience operating and maintaining industrial boilers, preferably in a sawmill or similar heavy manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of steam systems, pumps, valves, and boiler controls.
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and P&IDs (piping and instrumentation diagrams).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, safety awareness, and time management.
• Physically able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in varying temperature conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Previous Sawmill Experience in Boiler Operator Position

Working Conditions:

• Industrial sawmill environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving machinery.
• Must be available to work weekends, holidays, or overtime as production demands require.
