Job Details General Summary:
This position works under the direction of the Billing Director.Responsible for all accounts receivable and related functions. Directs all credentialing and maintains data and timelines for enrollment/credentialing for clinical staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Bills Medicaid, private insurance, Medicare, special contracts, self-pay and families.
- Oversees billing procedures at Outpatient (BHSA) and reports any findings or problems as they occur.
- Creates appropriate subsidiary journal entries for the Finance Director to post.
- Serves as a contact person with third-party payers and agency reviewers and administrative support team members, to improve effective and efficient access to services, billing processes, and documentation in Electronic Client Records (ECR).
- Works directly with insurance companies to verify coverage and benefits.
- Conveys financial responsibility to patients at start of treatment, and at any significant status change regarding benefits, schedule of payments, payment plan implementation, facilitates Sliding Fee Scale Application/renewal process, prepares and sends statements to clients, etc.
- Documents financial analysis thoroughly and appropriately.
- Completes provides credentialing and re-credentialing applications; monitors applications and follows up as needed.
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong written and verbal skills; ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, patients, licensed associates and the general public
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Basic understanding of calculation of figures
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's preferred. Previous experience in credentialing a must. Experience with Medicaid, insurance, and Medicare billing desired. Three years accounts receivable experience preferred. Working knowledge of accounting principles preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment Team members are required to sit, stand, talk, see, walk and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to personally restrain patients.Must maintain a current tuberculosis skin test. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
