CTG is seeking to fill an Azure SQL Database Administrator (DBA) – Data Repository Development opening for our client in Buffalo, NY.

Duration: 6 months

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Azure SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to support the development of a secure, scalable, and high-performance data repository on the Microsoft Azure platform. This role will focus on building the foundational infrastructure that enables enterprise-wide data initiatives for a global banking client. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in Azure SQL technologies, strong collaboration skills, and a passion for data governance and performance optimization in regulated environments.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and deploy a centralized Azure SQL database repository for enterprise data aggregation
• Administer Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instances with a focus on security, scalability, and high availability
• Collaborate with data architects, engineers, and compliance teams to define data models, ETL processes, and access policies
• Implement best practices for backups, disaster recovery, and data retention, aligned with banking regulatory standards
• Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, T-SQL, or Azure CLI for routine maintenance and operations
• Monitor performance and tune systems to optimize storage and query performance
• Participate in audits and security reviews; develop necessary documentation for internal and external compliance

Scope of Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain the core data infrastructure on Azure to support analytics, compliance, and operational reporting
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations such as SOX, GDPR, and GLBA
• Support ongoing migration from legacy databases to the Azure-based solution
• Assist in defining and enforcing standards for data access, encryption, and retention

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA with at least 2+ years managing Azure SQL solutions
• Proven experience configuring and supporting Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, and related Azure data services
• Strong understanding of compliance and security practices in financial institutions

Education and Experience Preferred:

• Microsoft Azure Certifications (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data solutions
